Description
Goldbacks made their debut in 2019 as a voluntary currency, holding genuine gold, in the state of Utah. While they’re not legal tender, you can spend them based on the discretion of the vendor. Due to their initial popularity though, the NBC affiliate of Salt Lake City reported that as many as a “quarter to half of small businesses” were accepting Goldbacks as a form of payment. Now, you have the chance to join in on the newest evolution of spendable gold with the 5 Piece Utah Goldback Gold Note Set, available at CanAm Bullion.
Set Highlights:
- Available in protective sleeves!
- All 5 denominations in the Utah Goldback Set!
- Set contains 91/1000th Troy oz of 24-karat gold.
- The obverse field is unique for each Goldback in the set.
- The reverse field is a replica of the obverse.
- Please note that each set will have matching years on the 5 notes, with varying sets offering the potential for different years.
Each note in the 5 Piece Utah Goldback Note Set displays a unique image based on a different cardinal virtue. For example, the 1 Utah Goldback showcases the female personification of Prudentia. This Latin word translates to prudence and is associated with wisdom and insight. This depiction shows a woman in indigenous clothes perched on a tree base with a wolf howling next to her.
The reverse field of each note in the 5 Piece Goldback Gold Note Set features a mirrored image of the obverse. These gold notes are so thin that any imagery on the reverse would alter the obverse design.
Each note in the 5 Piece Utah Goldback Gold Note Set will arrive in a currency sleeve to preserve the condition of each note. This 5-piece set contains just over 1/11th Troy oz of actual gold content. This set also features all 5 denominations in the Utah Series from the 1 Goldback to the 50 Goldback.
These Utah Goldback Gold Notes were inspired by the passage of the Utah Legal Tender Act in 2011. This act allowed for the adoption of gold and silver as legal tender in the state of Utah. The Goldback was so popular that other collections were created for Nevada, New Hampshire, and Wyoming.
